A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a red arrowhead bearing a stylized phoenix with a four-pointed star between its wingtips in chief, resting on top of the arrowhead is a wreath of oak and olive encircling a five-pointed star, all gold. Around the sides and bottom of the arrowhead is a curved "V" shaped black scroll inscribed with "SUSTINENDUM IN" on the left and "PAX ET BELLUM" on the right in gold letters.
