Originally founded as the Air Training Command in 1942, the modern Air Education and Training Command (AETC) was formed in 1993. Dedicated to enhancing the combat capability of America's Air Force, the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) is tasked with recruiting and training the world's best pilots and aviation support personnel. Employing an army of approximately 60,000 recruiters, educators, and flight instructors, the AETC operates Air University as well a number of other smaller training programs. Headquartered at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas, the AETC oversees operations at thirteen bases located throughout the United States.
